Xbox's Latest Announcement: Senua’s Saga: Hellblade 2 Opts for Digital-Only Release
In a recent blog post on Xbox Wire following the Xbox Developer Direct, it was revealed that Senua’s Saga: Hellblade 2 will not have a physical release. Both Xbox and developer Ninja Theory have chosen a digital-only launch for the game.
According to Dom MattDhews, the studio head at Ninja Theory, Senua’s Saga: Hellblade 2 is designed as a heartfelt gaming experience. Similar in length to its predecessor, the first Hellblade, the game features a focused narrative and will be available exclusively in digital format at a price of $49.99 USD. Matthews explained that the pricing reflects the game's shorter story compared to other titles in the same genre.
he anticipated game's duration is expected to be similar to Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice, taking approximately nine hours to complete all in-game activities. Notably, the digital-only approach for Hellblade 2 contrasts with the original game, which initially launched digitally and later had a physical release a year later.T
This decision to go digital-only comes at a time when players are increasingly concerned about game ownership. Philippe Tremblay, Ubisoft’s Director of Subscriptions, recently suggested that players should "get comfortable" with the idea of not owning their games anymore.
